The new year gets underway with soft colours for 2024
Those considering refreshing their home interiors this year might be interested to know the new shades for 2024 are warm, soft and easy on the eye.
The Pantone Color of the Year is Peach Fuzz (PANTONE 13-1023), a light apricot shade which could work well against cream and ivory backdrops.
Pepper it in through cushions, candles, towels and kitchen accessories or try larger accents, such as rugs, throws and blinds.
Bringing it in via a feature wall or bedding will allow it to dominate the room, enhancing the overall ambience and adding a sense of warmth and comfort.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says: “PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others.
“It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.
“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a colour radiant with warmth and modern elegance.
“A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”
She continues saying the colours for this winter season in general “reach out beyond what we think is possible to catapult us into this new era, taking us to a place where boundaries of time, place, and identity are no longer fixed.”

The Dulux Colour of the Year for 2024 is Sweet Embrace, a shade that again has a softness, this could be described as light mushroom or dark oatmeal.
“Sweet Embrace is a delicate and optimistic colour, inspired by the softness of feathers and evening clouds,” says Dulux.
“As well as being a warm and practical standalone shade, it’s also a great foundation colour that’s ideal for pairing with many other shades for a unique wall colour combination.
“Subtle and sophisticated, it takes on different tones in different lights, bringing warmth to north-facing spaces and softness to sunlit rooms.”
