A Very Merry Christmas!

As the festive season is almost upon us, everyone here at Howie Architects would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
Howie Architects are also proud to be celebrating 10 years in business and we would like to say a huge thank you to all our clients, colleagues, partners and associates over the past decade.
As ever, it has been a year of ups and downs for those working in property and the built environment, not just for us here in Norwich, but across the country and beyond.
Here at Howie Architects, however, despite that, we have had the privilege of working on some interesting projects and teaming up with great people.
We love the challenge of everything from classic terraced city house extensions to major renovation and remodelling of more modern houses and character building conversions.
Times are hard at the moment – with increases in the costs of living and wages not necessarily keeping pace, many people are currently financially stretched.
Property prices mean those who might in the past have moved on up the ladder to something more spacious as their families have grown are now unable to.
Simultaneously, a lack of suitable housing options for the older generations – who are living longer – also means more homeowners are wishing to accommodate their parents.
And, of course, we all know how hard it is for young people to afford rents or mortgages on first homes and so they often require space within the family home too.
Far more people are therefore now looking to extend their homes outwards, upwards and into spaces such as garages and other outbuildings – as these are their only options.
But projects like this can also be costly.
Here at Howie Architects, we are obviously experienced at helping clients manage with tighter budgets and can advise on what may or may not be possible.
And it is also about being creative, innovative and inventive…
Increasingly, instead of extending, we are also helping people to make the most of their underused spaces.
Yes, this may be that garage, coal shed or lean-to – but it may also be about remodelling and working with existing internal space that is not reaching its full potential.
As 2025 draws to a close, and you perhaps spend some time over the festive season mulling over your options, please do think about contacting us in the new year.
We can tell you more about what we do and can highlight projects we have completed that may be similar to what you are considering.
Finding a solution may be challenging, but we will help you if we can.
In the meantime, relax, have fun and enjoy being with your nearest and dearest.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from us all!
